JE Dunn has a long history of involvement with the Blue Springs R-IV School District on multiple bond programs. Below is an overview of the three most recent bond programs:

JE Dunn also completed extensive work for the Blue Springs R-IV School District from 2005 to 2012. In 2012, the construction firm-built gymnasiums/FEMA storm shelters at multiple elementary schools. In 2010, renovations and additions were completed at four elementary schools, alongside major renovations and additions at Blue Springs South High School.
In the spring of 2009, JE Dunn managed performance contract upgrades, including the helicopter lift installation of 155 rooftop units. Additionally, in 2005, the firm completed renovations and additions at nine elementary schools, focusing on secured entry upgrades, mechanical and electrical system enhancements, door and window replacements, and finish upgrades.
The JE Dunn Construction team successfully addressed significant challenges during the Blue Springs School District project by adopting the “Flow Like Lasso” initiative, inspired by Ted Lasso’s leadership style and Lean principles. By fostering positivity, collaboration, and resilience, the team tackled obstacles like tight schedules, untested partnerships, and community tensions. They implemented seven core values: belief in people, safe communication spaces, focusing on solutions, learning from mistakes, celebrating wins, informal connections, and curiosity over judgment. This approach transformed the project’s culture, building camaraderie and trust, completing the project efficiently, and leaving a lasting positive impact on the community.

The two-story Career Innovation Center (CIC) will be dedicated to profession-based learning, preparing students for careers and college through Real World Learning opportunities. It will feature specialized programs in Aviation, Business, Medical and Health, Gaming and Technology, Teaching and Education, and Hospitality and Tourism. Key features of the CIC:
Culinary and Hospitality Facilities: The CIC will include a commercial kitchen, bakery, mock-restaurant, and coffee shop, supporting Hospitality and Tourism programs and serving the entire facility.
E-Sports and Athletic Spaces: A state-of-the-art E-Sports Arena with food service capabilities and new track and field facilities for discus, javelin, and shot put will cater to both recreational and competitive activities.
Professional Development and Safety: The CIC will host district-wide professional development events and include an ICC 500-compliant high wind shelter for safety during severe weather.
Educational Programs: Dedicated spaces for Veterinarian Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Video Game Design, and a music technician and repair clinic will provide hands-on learning experiences.
Recreational and Community Spaces: An auxiliary practice gym with locker rooms, an outdoor roof terrace, and a lounge connected to the restaurant will offer versatile spaces for fitness, dining, and social events.
The CIC is designed to be a hub of education, innovation, and community engagement, equipping students with the tools and experiences needed for future careers.
